Preparing for surgery

Following your consultation with Dr Forsyth, our staff will help with the following: 

• The date and location of your surgery

• Informed financial consent

• If you require any procedures prior to your surgery including insertion of guidewires (hookwires) or lymph node mapping studies (lymphoscintigraphy), our staff will book these appointments for you and will explain where you will need to go.

The hospital will contact you the day prior to surgery with instructions on when to fast and what time you should arrive at the hospital. Your anaesthetist will contact you prior to your surgery to discuss the anaesthetic.

What to bring on the day of your surgery:

• Your imaging (x-rays, mammogram, ultrasound)

• All you regular medications

• Your post operative bra

• If you are staying overnight, your toiletries and some comfortable front opening pyjamas
